shot
I’m shot in black and white
Voice clear and thoughts muddled
I’m shot through with black and white
All gray inside
When will you clear this slate
Cut my chains and enable my escape
I am not resigned to my fate
And I will not wait
beneath this weight
A pine box with my name on it
May wait for me at the end of my days
But I stumbled upon a peace of rest
Where no one waits on delays
The presence of you
Is more for each moment
More knowledge, more power
And more of what I need
I can wait beneath this awning
For what you bring
And discover disclosure
Is the way in which I am freed
I will take your cue
I will take your lead
Treasure the pain
And imitate your deed
Mattwriks,
I love this: “shot in black and white,” is our position in the world. When we are young, we make bold moves, thinking the path is clear, because we also see in black and white. In 3D, we are “shot through. . .all gray inside”. How do we move? I read powerlessness, “when will you. . .chains. . .not resigned. . .pine box.”
So, when it’s all black and white outside, and gray on the inside, HOW DO YOU MOVE? WHAT COMPELS YOU?! WHAT IS YOUR MAP?
