ugly animal

despite your designer apparel
I still know you as near feral

I can feel the life hot inside me
Jittery in my wired cage
Running in circles, madly dashing
Eighty / two hundred and no presage

Heedless and headlong never knowing
The wall, an afterthought discovery
Forepaws grounded, now to find good basis
Loins twist quickly in recovery

  1. Is this about a girl? : ) I like the fluidity or some unnameable something about these latest two MattWricks works. I noticed the animal twist too, very nice. What is it about us? We both seem to come back from breaks at the same time.

  2. we have a house saying, “near feral”. and one day the opening line popped out and it may be the only valuable part (sung loudly along with fugazi-type music). in my mind, there is a stanza or two missing which would tie it all together better. does the chord pattern have to resolve?
